【摘要】:Thistestmethodratesmaterialsintendedforuseasprotectiveclothingagainstexposuretohotsurfaces,fortheirthermalinsulatingpropertiesandtheirreactiontothetestconditions.Thethermalprotectiontimeasdeterminedbythistestmethodrelatestotheactualend-useperformanceonlytothedegreethattheend-useexposureisidenticaltotheexposureusedinthistestmethod;thatis,thehotsurfacetesttemperatureisthesameastheactualend-usetemperatureandthetestpressureisthesameastheend-usepressure.Higherpressures,beyondthe3kPa(0.5psi)pressureprovidedbythecalorimeterassemblyinthistestmethodshallbepermittedtobeusedinthistestmethodtosimulatetheconditionsofprotectiveclothinguse.Theproceduremaintainsthespecimeninastatic,horizontalpositionunderastandardpressureanddoesnotinvolvemovement.Oneoftheintendedapplicationsforthistestmethodiscomparingtherelativeperformanceofdifferentmaterials.Thistestmethodislimitedtoshortexposurebecausethemodelusedtopredictburninjuryislimitedtopredictionsoftime-to-burnforupto30seconds,andpredictionsoftime-to-painforupto50seconds.Theuseofthistestmethodforlongerhotsurfaceexposuresrequiresadifferentmodelfordeterminingburninjuryoradifferentbasisforreportingtestresults.1.1Thistestmethodisusedtomeasurethethermalinsulationofmaterialsusedinprotectiveclothingwhenexposedforashortperiodoftimetoahotsurfacewithatemperatureupto600x00B0;F(316x00B0;C).1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletomaterialsusedintheconstructionofprotectiveclothing,including,butnotlimitedto:wovenfabrics,knitfabrics,battings,sheetstructures,andmaterialcomposites,intendedforuseasclothingforprotectionagainstexposuretohotsurfaces.1.3Thistestmethodshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetoheatundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethethermalhazardorfireriskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualexposureconditions.1.4ThevaluesasstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesaregivenforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
